How to Cut Ingredients: It’s important that when you are cooking that you cut all of your ingredients to about the same size. This ensures that they cook evenly and some aren’t done quicker than others. That can result in some being mushy and others being hard or not cooked all the way through. High vs. Low Cook Time: You can usually cook any crock pot soup on high OR low as long as you know how to convert it from one to the other. For every 2 hours on low, it’s 1 hour on high. So the time is typically cut in half from low to high. When to Add Dairy Products: Usually, when I am adding cream cheese or shredded cheese to my slow cooker soups, I add it in during the last 15 minutes. This makes it so that the cheese doesn’t curdle and get overcooked. Place Meat on the Bottom: Because meat is usually the ingredient that takes the longest to cook, I always put that in the slow cooker first.
